Director of Nursing

Location: Woodinville, WA
Company: Alliance Nursing
Salary: $140k,000 - $180,000 /Year

Join our compassionate, mission-driven team at Alliance Nursing as a Director of Nursing, a role that is deeply clinical, hands-on, and leadership-driven. This is not a purely administrative position. We are seeking an experienced nurse-leader who is actively engaged in patient care oversight, clinical decision-making, and in-field support-someone who leads by example and remains closely connected to the care being delivered.

As Director of Nursing, you will oversee both medically complex home health/private duty nursing and our Adult Family Homes (AFHs), with regular, direct involvement in the homes. You will work alongside nurses and caregivers, provide clinical guidance, conduct in-person oversight and evaluations, and ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role is a true blend of hands-on nursing, clinical leadership, and operational responsibility-designed for a DON who still identifies as a nurse, values bedside realities, and takes ownership of outcomes across teams, homes, and patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor nursing teams across both Home Health and Adult Family Home (AFH) settings, fostering collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.

  • Oversee clinical operations and compliance, including CHAP standards, HIPAA, and state/federal regulations, while managing staffing, referrals, and patient placements.

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, covering safety protocols, infection control, policy development, and performance outcomes.

  • Support organizational preparedness, including disaster planning, emergency response protocols, and staff training.

  • Act as a clinical leader and liaison, providing expert guidance on patient care and risk management, while collaborating closely with the CEO, Governing Body, and interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Required:
We're looking for a seasoned nursing leader with:

  • an active, unrestricted Washington State RN license and a BSN

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in home health or private duty nursing, including 1+ year working with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients

  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a home-based or Adult Family Home setting

  • Strong knowledge of CHAP standards, HIPAA, and healthcare regulations

  • The ability to lead independently, manage clinical complexity, support staff, and respond to emergencies

  • Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, perform CPR, and handle on-call duties

  • A valid driver's license and comfort traveling to client homes and AFH sites

Preferred:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field

  • Experience leading CHAP accreditation or clinical compliance programs

  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other system improvement methodologies

  • A background in infection control and disaster preparedness

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems
