Job Summary
Excellent opportunity for a Health Aide - Part-time or per diem at Natick Walpole VNA
This position will provide health care related tasks and personal hygiene services to individuals in their home.
Responsibilities and Duties
Observes, records, and reports all changes to the Supervisor. The HHA must demonstrate competence in performing the necessary skills and perform only those skills listed on the Plan of Care.
Responsibilities:
- Gives or assists with personal care, i.e. bathing, skin care, routine nail care, shampooing, toileting, feeding, dressing, positioning, transferring, shaving, mouth care.
- Performs certain activities under the supervision of an RN/PT/OT i.e. colostomy care, assist with oral medications, for example cuing, reinforce a dressing as directed, change non sterile dressings, assist patient with ambulation device, specimen collection, measure intake and output, vital signs, oxygen safety.
- Carries out simple exercise program as taught by therapist
- Adheres to care plan; recognizes and reports changes in patient's condition to nurse/therapist
- Completes day sheets/payroll sheets within expectations defined.
- Drives a car and maintains an active driver's license
- Able to communicate with patients to determine their needs and explain treatment
- Participates in case conferencing when requested
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and education programs
- Promotes a positive image of the agency.
- Maintains confidentiality on all agency matters.
- Adheres to all agency policies and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be a certified Home Health Aide.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum 6 months Home Care experience
