This position will report to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and is based at our Neapco Drivelines facility in Belleville, Michigan. The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality in your designated manufacturing cell(s). Your role will include designing, implementing, troubleshooting and overseeing production systems, ensuring that equipment and processes are operating effectively, and collaborating with other departments to support new product launches and day-to-day activities.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and managing all Manufacturing and Process Engineering activities, reviewing component and product assembly prints with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturing feasibility, developing specifications for new equipment and tools, redesigning equipment and tooling to enhance efficiency, developing fixture and tooling concepts, developing and maintaining Production Validation Plans, Flowcharts, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Sheets, and all documentation required to satisfy the AIAG PPAP requirements, performing/reviewing Measurement System Analysis on new or modified equipment, providing floor support for troubleshooting, corrective actions, and maintenance of equipment and fixtures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions, ensuring documentation meets ISO/TS 16949 requirements, applying Advanced Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause and Prevent Recurrence Analysis as needed, instructing and training hourly operators and new hires on the process steps and operational procedures, ensuring equipment compliance with safety and environmental regulations and industry standards, and performing other duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of Friction and MIAB welding processes, familiarity with Automation and Robotic cells, experience with Propshaft Assembly and High-Speed balancing, experience in a high-volume automotive production plant, competence with statistics and statistical software, experience with design and modeling software, use of the Plan, Do, Check, Act discipline for continuous improvement, knowledge of Six-Sigma methodology in problem solving, ability to use the 8D problem solving approach to understand root cause and implement corrective actions, strong technical and interpersonal skills, and Microsoft Office software suite. xhqgsiq
Education and experience include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical disciplines.
