Mechanical Estimator

Job Summary

Southern MEP Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team. This role is critical to the success of our industrial and commercial construction projects, providing accurate and competitive cost estimates that drive strategic decisions and project execution. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure our bids are precise, timely, and aligned with project goals.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to develop detailed cost estimates.
• Calculate material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor costs for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing).
• Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals for industrial and commercial projects.
• Evaluate and price change orders, revisions, and scope adjustments.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Assistant PMs to refine estimates and support proposal development.
• Maintain and update cost databases, vendor pricing, and historical project data.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical estimating within industrial/construction/MEP environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble, Quote soft, or similar).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
