About the Role
As the Medical Director of Virtual Primary Care, you’ll lead a centralized virtual care team delivering both acute and chronic care across direct-to-consumer and internal referral channels. You’ll champion seamless integration with in-person services across the BSW network — setting standards and building a program designed for the future of healthcare.
You will
- Provide direct virtual care to your own patient panel
- Lead and mentor a growing team of Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Shape care delivery strategy, workflows, and clinical standards
- Collaborate with leaders in clinical care, digital health, operation and population health
Work Schedule
Full-time (40 hours/week) with flexible scheduling to best support patient needs and optimize care delivery. Time Allocation: 80% clinical care | 20% leadership and program development. Visibility: High-profile leadership role with executive-level exposure. Location: Hybrid (Texas-based) — must reside within commuting distance of a Baylor Scott & White Health facility.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Define and evolve the vision, direction, and roadmap for VPC
- Partner with leaders in Primary Care, Digital Health, Population Health, and Operations
- Drive innovation in access, value-based care, and virtual care delivery models
- Scale the VPC model regionally and beyond
Clinical & Operational Oversight
- Deliver direct virtual care for both acute and chronic conditions
- Hire, lead, and develop a team of virtual care providers
- Create efficient, compliant, patient-centered workflows
- Foster continuous clinical improvement and professional development
Quality, Innovation & Integration
- Optimize key performance metrics: outcomes, access, satisfaction, and utilization
- Promote care continuity and integration across the BSW network
- Leverage digital tools, orders, referrals and shared EHRs to enhance care
- Champion safety, evidence-based care, and a culture of continuous improvement
Collaboration & Compliance
- Coordinate with, customer journey teams, compliance, operations, credentialing, as well as physicians, APPs and staff across the BSW Medical Group and both the Quality Alliance and BSW Health Plan.
- Ensure regulatory and licensure compliance across all geographies
- Advise on digital platform development to optimize user and provider experience
What You Bring
Preferred:
- Experience supervising or mentoring APPs
- Familiarity with digital health platforms, and virtual-first care models
- Knowledge of ACOs, value-based contracts, or payer-provider partnerships
- Experience managing patient panels in the primary care setting

Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active Texas medical license (or immediate eligibility)
- Board certified in Family Medicine (Preferred), Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds
- 2+ years of clinical practice experience
- Deep understanding of primary care and population health
- Commitment to quality care and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
