Job Description
Inova Neurosurgery is looking for a dedicated Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to join the team at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. This position is eligible for sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities
- APP will be responsible for all aspects of the service, including daily rounds and progress notes.
- Emergency Room and inpatient consults, admissions, and discharges
- Ordering and interpreting labs and radiologic studies
- Fielding phone calls from inpatient nurses
- Multidisciplinary care coordination and patient education
- Perform procedures within the scope of Inova Health credentialing and privileging, including EVD and ICP monitor placement
- Opportunities for first-assisting in the OR, as service needs permit or require
- Collaborate directly with the neurosurgeons
Additional Requirements
- Work schedule: Full-time – 3/12 hour shifts per week
- Education: Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice or post-master’s certificate for nurse practitioners; OR credential from an accredited program for nurse anesthesia; for physician assistants, graduate of an accredited PA program with certification by NCCPA
- Experience: No experience required
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start
- Licensure: Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; if NP: RN Compact License (depending on state of primary residence) and Virginia licensure/eligibility with Practice Agreement and Scope of Practice/Protocol signed by supervising physician, plus DEA license if prescribing controlled substances
- Payer Credentialing: Ability to complete credentialing with third-party payors and enrollment as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
- Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful credentialing for Medical Staff membership and privileges to perform all required services
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience in inpatient neurosurgery, spine, or orthopedics
