Position Summary
Physician Assistant, Orthopedics
Brief Overview
Please note this role will possibly include coverage of several subspecialities of orthopedics.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive care of subspecialty team patients as well as orthopedic trauma/fracture patients.
- Treating new and established patients, interpretation of diagnostic imaging, pre‑op and post‑op appointments, and coordination of care.
- Managing acute and chronic orthopedic conditions that span infant to young adult age groups.
- Clinic coverage could be across all BCH locations including: Boston, Waltham, Weymouth, Peabody and Needham.
- Working four 10‑hour shifts per week with built in administrative time.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree from a Physician Assistant program.
Experience
- Previous experience as a PA in pediatrics, orthopedics or other related area is strongly preferred.
- A strong desire to work in the pediatric orthopedic setting.
- Ability to work in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) and ambulatory staff is essential.
- Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, cross‑functional experience‑based knowledge.
- Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well‑developed writing skills.
Licensure/ Certifications
- A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Sign‑on bonus of $5,000.00 for fulltime (40 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
