ELC Teacher (Early Childhood Learning Center)
Part-time position: 8:00am-12:00pm (will follow FCS school schedule)

* We're looking for warm, friendly individuals with a minimum of an associate degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA or Career Pathways Level 3. You must have a good understanding of child development and be committed to providing developmentally appropriate practices for the age group. You'll also need to have or enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases.

*POSITION SUMMARY:*
The Lead Teacher is the head of the classroom and responsible for creating a positive environment and program that reflects the YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. The Lead Teacher is directly responsible for: planning and carrying out daily lesson plans, maintaining program licensing and Step Up to Quality standards in the classroom, assessment/documentation for Step Up to Quality, and effectively communicating with parents, ELC personnel, children, and center guests daily. Lead Teachers will work cooperatively with the center director to provide day to day guidance to the Teacher Assistants.
*ACCOUNTABILITIES:*
1. Maintain safe and secure environment for children, being always aware of child activities.
2. Work as a team member with other staff.
3. Prepares lesson plans and maintains a learning environment with developmentally appropriate activities.
4. Provides for the care of the physical and emotional needs of the child using positive reinforcement
5. Fostering independence and acting as a role model for the child.
6. Communicate effectively with children, their parents, other YMCA staff, and center guests.
7. Report any concerns to your supervisor.
8. Respond to emergencies according to YMCA procedures.
9. Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children and staff.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
1. An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and development.
2. Specific knowledge in developmentally appropriate practices for the age group.
3. Must have or enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases.
4. Warm and friendly personality and the desire to work directly with young children.
5. Must have a minimum of a CDA (Bachelor's preferred)
6. Meet ODJFS licensing qualifications in training and background check.
7. Create and maintain profile on the Ohio Professional Development Network within 30 days
8. Complete required initial Step Up to Quality trainings within 60 days.
