Are you a deeply technical, hands-on IT and cybersecurity professional who thrives on real-time problem solving, security vigilance, and engineering ownership?
THE RIGHT STAFF is proud to partner with a growing organization in their search for a Senior Network & Security Engineer. This is a critical, highly technical role for someone who is currently hands-on with modern infrastructure, networking, VMware, and cybersecurity tools.
*ABOUT THE ROLE:*
The IT Manager will be a key contributor to IT operations, with a heavy focus on hands-on engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. You will support and secure a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment while owning daily security operations, major technical projects, and escalated issues.
This role requires someone who is actively doing the work today; investigating alerts, configuring systems, maintaining VMware environments, and responding to real incidents. This is not a “set it and forget it” environment.
*JOB DETAILS:*
* 100% Onsite in Roseville, MN
* Full-Time, Direct Hire
* Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
* Salary: $125,000 – $140,000+ (depending on experience)
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: *
* Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure (Azure, Entra ID, Active Directory, networking).
* Administer and optimize VMware environments, including ESXi clusters, vCenter, HA/DRS, storage, and VMware Horizon View (VDI).
* Perform daily hands-on cybersecurity operations, including alert investigation, incident response, and breach mitigation.
* Manage and operate advanced security tools including CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Abnormal Security, Vectra AI, Microsoft Defender, and SonicWALL firewalls.
* Investigate logs and alerts across endpoints, identity, email, and network traffic – every alert is reviewed and validated.
* Approve application elevations, access requests, and security policy changes while maintaining least-privilege principles.
* Maintain and update security policies, firmware, and configurations as standards evolve.
* Lead and support major initiatives including software rewrite projects, custom/homegrown application support, Azure storage projects, and infrastructure upgrades.
* Design and execute network expansions, office buildouts, and hardware deployments across multiple locations.
* Serve as escalation point for complex helpdesk issues and participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
* Develop documentation including runbooks, escalation paths, and security standards.
* Evaluate and onboard third-party vendors for managed services, backups, and tooling.
*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* 7+ years of experience in Network Engineering / IT Infrastructure roles.
* 3+ years in a senior or lead-level technical role.
* 3+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience (incident response, breach prevention, security tooling).
* Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Horizon View (VDI).
* Experience supporting hybrid environments (Azure/Entra ID + on-prem).
* Proven experience with modern security tools such as CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Microsoft Defender, Abnormal Security, or similar.
* Demonstrated experience leading technical projects such as migrations, buildouts, or system integrations.
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
* VMware certifications (VCP-DTM, VCP-NV, or equivalent).
* CCNA, Azure certifications, or CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+).
* Experience working in mixed PC and Mac environments.
