A unique opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher at a middle school in Glendale Heights, IL, specializing in emotional support for students with behavioral and emotional challenges. This contract position runs through the current school year until May 22, 2026, and requires an onsite commitment to provide dedicated support within a highly structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to a caseload of 5 middle school students exhibiting emotional and/or behavioral difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and goals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including counselors and support staff, to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Provide occasional personal care assistance, including toileting support, as required.
- Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports in compliance with district policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Illinois LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification.
- Proven experience working with emotional support programs or similar special education settings.
- Strong flexibility and comfort with managing a small, intensive caseload.
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills suited for middle school-aged students.
- Ability to work onsite during designated school hours, approximately 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday.
Location and Schedule:
- Position is based at a middle school in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
- Full-time schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week following the school calendar.
