Job Description:

The Staff Accountant supports accurate financial reporting and compliance by assisting with general accounting operations, monthly close processes, and internal controls.

This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial data across multiple entities. It offers hands-on exposure to core accounting activities within a collaborative team environment.


This position reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager.

  • Maintain and close financials for assigned subsidiaries or divisions, including journal entries, accrual estimations, reconciliations, allocations, and executive reporting.
  • Maintain fixed asset records using depreciation software, including asset additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation calculations.
  • Assist with documentation and schedules required for the external audit.
  • Calculate intercompany interest expenses for notes receivable and payable within the corporate group.
  • Support gross margin analysis for internal and external product sales.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly transport cost reports.
  • Assist with various month-end close activities, including balance sheet and P&L account analysis, inventory to general ledger reconciliations and accounts receivable reserve analyses
  • Participate in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures to support internal controls.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual corporate income and sales tax returns.
  • Collaborate with team members across sites to provide information and analysis of account and financial activity balances.
  • Process monthly broker commission payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide support in ad hoc report generation and account analysis as needed.

In addition to the specific duties outlined, you may be required to perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by your manager. These tasks will be relevant to your role and within the scope of your area of expertise.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required).
  • Up to 2 years of accounting experience, including internships or co-op programs; experience in public accounting or a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with accounting software or ERP systems is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
