Summary: Designs and develops technologies related to the generation or manipulation of content targeted at the human senses or machine perception. Includes speech, audio, imaging, computer vision, display, sensing, biometrics, and augmented/virtual reality. Analyzes use cases, performs functional decomposition, drives requirements, and proposes system modifications to optimize performance and power.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Works in the lab and can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in one or more multimedia technology areas (speech, audio, imaging, computer vision, display, sensing, biometrics, augmented/virtual reality).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs systems-level software and hardware to provide multimedia functionality, identifies power constraints and tradeoffs, and recommends solutions.
- Contributes to design reviews for subsystem development and defines design constraints.
- Collaborates with peers to design products that meet customer requirements and standards.
- Develops test environment and test cases to verify component design, evaluates impact, validates against specifications, and presents findings.
- Uses appropriate tools to conduct common analyses of software or hardware design.
- Programs a chip feature under supervision, creates new and tailors existing algorithms according to a framework.
- Completes complex tasks and solves issues related to machine learning data with minimal guidance.
- Develops or adapts complex machine learning algorithms, models, or frameworks aligned with product proposals or roadmaps with minimal guidance.
- Conducts complex experiments to train and evaluate machine learning models independently.
- Contributes to technical conversations and documentation, escalates complex technical issues to appropriate contacts.
Level of Responsibility:
Working under some supervision, providing guidance to others, making moderate impact decisions, using verbal and written communication skills for complex information, working within prescribed budgets, exercising substantial creativity, using deductive and inductive problem solving, and occasionally being solicited during strategic planning periods.
